Kindergarten ยท ages 4 to 5

Junior and Senior KG, ready for big school

Reading, writing and number sense arrive properly in these two years, alongside the confidence to stand up in front of a group and say what you think.

Kindergarten children working together

Junior KG

Reading clicks into place

Blending sounds into words, the moveable alphabet, place value with beads, and writing that starts as tracing and ends as sentences.

Senior KG

Writing, logic and school readiness

Independent reading, addition and subtraction with materials, simple research projects, and the routines a Grade 1 classroom will expect.

Beyond reading and maths

Culture and geography

Globes, land and water forms, festivals and the animals of each continent.

Show and tell

A weekly turn in front of the group. Nervous in October, unstoppable by March.

Field trips

A termly outing, followed by drawing and writing about what they saw.

School applications

Teachers help with interviews and paperwork when children move on to Grade 1.

Questions parents ask

Yes. Senior KG children read independently, write sentences and handle addition and subtraction, and we practise the sit-down routines a mainstream classroom uses.

Teachers help with interview practice and provide observation records and a transfer certificate when you need them.

No exams. Progress comes as observation notes and termly meetings, which tell you far more than a mark out of ten.

Kindergarten groups are mixed-age and kept small enough that each child gets individual lessons through the week.

Visits run on weekday mornings

See a working classroom, meet the lead teacher and ask about seats in your child's age group.
